Perched on a picturesque hill near the ancient site of Mycenae, Tettix House offers a retreat with panoramic views stretching across the valley to the distant Argolic Gulf. Originally built in 1980 as a cottage, this family vacation home has been lovingly transformed into a guesthouse by two siblings, who have preserved its charm and homely atmosphere. The name ‘Tettix’, derived from the ancient Greek word for cicadas, reflects the house’s serene setting amid a lush garden where the gentle hum of cicadas can be heard. Surrounded by olive and orange groves, along with towering cypress trees, Tettix House is where guests can immerse in nature’s embrace. Stepping inside, the house’s design effortlessly blends the old with the new. Antique pieces coexist harmoniously with contemporary elements, creating an interior that is both timeless and comfortable. The personal touch of the siblings is evident throughout, from the thoughtful restoration to the careful curation of decor that honors the house’s history.
“We just wanted to share this feeling of homeliness. This house has a way of pulling you in; you end up staying inside, you never want to leave.”
