Located in Therasia, Santa Irini Retreat is a place steeped in history. At the heart of the retreat’s estate lies the remarkable church of Agia Irini, -the oldest among the 23 churches scattered across Therasia- completed in 1867. Its presence forms the natural boundary of the retreat’s southern yard, creating a unique atmosphere.
Offering modern comforts and breathtaking views of the caldera, the retreat features private vegetable gardens and vineyards. It consists of three separate suites, each featuring a master bedroom and a private lounge. These suites are meticulously designed to blend tradition with modernity, offering a sense of heritage while providing all the comforts of contemporary living. The suites at Santa Irini Retreat are named after three remarkable women: Margarita, Avgi, and Theodossia. Each suite’s location and interior design reflect important aspects of these women’s lives, adding a personal and meaningful touch.
Santa Irini Retreat is designed in the shape of the Greek capital letter “Î ”. This architectural motif not only provides shaded areas throughout the day but also shields guests from the meltemia, the dry northeastern winds of the Aegean. This way guests can bask in the spectacular view of the caldera and neighboring islands—Ios, Sikinos, and Folegandros—while feeling fully protected. With the church of Agia Irini at its core, the retreat offers a unique opportunity to connect with the island’s rich heritage, surrounded by an aura of tranquility.
