This is a series of images that were made through a time span of three years. During the shooting period, there was no predetermined concept in mind. The resulted series is rather an extraction, the bits and pieces of a visual diary from days of summer on a Greek island.
Summertime here is not a season or a holiday, or a specific period of time. It’s more like a state one gets into. A state of mind. A state of being. Under the harsh sun and the penetrating light, things are redefined. A cloud on the horizon, the curve of a wall, a chapel carved into the stone, the smell of wild thyme, the sound of feasts into the night. The past blends with the present in a state of inner innocence, sensuality and silent nostalgia. What remains at the end is only the necessary.
