George Petrou is a very well known and recognized conductor, who studied piano and graduated with excellence degree from the Athens Conservatory. He continued his studies at the Royal College of Music and Royal Music Academy with scholarships from the Royal Academy and the Onassis Foundation. As Chief Conductor of the Kamerata -Friends of Music Orchestra, he was awarded for the best opera recording in 2013. As a solo artist he has worked with some of the best orchestras of the world. As Director of Orchestra he is focusing with his work to the period of baroque until the period of romanticism, with emphasis to operas and historical roles. He believes that, due to the flexibility and boldness expressed in the latest performances of Kamerata –Friends of Music Orchestra, people have embraced it with more love and higher appreciation.
