In the heart of Maison Flâneur lies a philosophy of exploration, curiosity, and deep appreciation for the beauty in everyday life. Dionas Sotiriou, the visionary behind the brand, brings the essence of the flâneur—a figure known for wandering through life with an open heart and a keen eye for detail—into homes around the world. We had the pleasure of speaking with Dionas about his journey, the inspiration behind Maison Flâneur, and how the philosophy of the flâneur can transform not just interiors, but the way we approach life itself.
How would you describe Maison Flâneur to someone discovering it for the first time?
Think of Maison Flâneur as your most stylish, well-traveled friend—the one who somehow always finds that incredible ceramic from a tiny Portuguese studio or that perfect lamp from a cult hotel in Greece. We spotlight the world’s best emerging brands and design voices, so you can shop interiors with a story (and bragging rights).
“We’re a destination for discovery.”
The brand is inspired by the spirit of the flâneur—the curious wanderer who finds beauty in every detail. How does this philosophy shape the way you curate pieces?
We’re all about that curious wanderer energy. We follow our nose—through alleys, ateliers, unexpected conversations—and come back with finds that feel alive. Flâneurs don’t rush or follow trends. They look for meaning, mood, and craftsmanship. So do we. If it sparks curiosity and feels original, it’s probably coming with us.
How do you decide what makes it into the Maison Flâneur collection? What catches your eye?
We like things that stop you mid-scroll. The kind of piece you want to ask questions about: “Where’s that from?” “Who made it?” “How do I get one?” We look for originality, great design, and that little twist that makes something unforgettable.
Can you share a memorable moment from your travels when you truly embraced the flâneur spirit?
Marrakech, hands down. There’s really only one way to experience the city properly—and that’s by surrendering to it. You can’t plan your way through it; you have to wander. The medina is a beautiful, chaotic maze where every corner reveals something unexpected. You get lost (on purpose), follow your curiosity, and let the city show itself to you. That’s the flâneur spirit in action. And honestly, it’s the only way Marrakech makes sense.
Has a particular hotel, restaurant, or destination deeply influenced the vision of Maison Flâneur? What made it special?
Too many to name—but those boutique hotels that feel like they were designed by someone’s extremely tasteful dream-self? Big yes. Places like Mona in Athens or Le Pigalle in Paris—where every detail is intentional, and nothing feels overdesigned. Those are our muses. We love spaces that feel lived-in, but still have that edge.
In a world driven by fast consumption, how does Maison Flâneur encourage a more thoughtful approach to interiors?
We’re not here to push trends or make you panic-buy another beige sofa. We’re about slow discovery. About collecting things that mean something, that make you smile every time you walk by. Interiors should feel like a playlist you’ve curated over time, not a showroom set.
How do you see the concept of “home” evolving, especially with the rise of global travel, cultural exchange, and sustainability?
Home used to be a fixed idea—now it’s fluid. People are mixing influences from their travels, embracing different cultures, and caring way more about how and where things are made. We love that. It means there’s room for more voices, more stories, and more creativity in how people live. And at the same time, there’s a growing desire for fewer, better things. That’s our sweet spot.
What’s next for Maison Flâneur? Any exciting projects coming up?
Always! We’ve got a wave of new brand partnerships we’re really excited about—one of the big highlights is our collaboration with the Greek Foundation of course! We’re also expanding into new categories and – there’s always something new to discover on Maison Flâneur.
