The ‘Hungry Donkey’ is an eclectic street food restaurant that breaks all the stereotypes of a traditional Greek tavern, designed by Stones and Walls and located in the hip surroundings of East London.
Industrial lighting, mesh screens on the ceiling and window fronts, the straw panels and the cement floor suggest a natural environment of an indoor- outdoor design, while the Greek identity is implicitly indicated through the bright yellow and the blue colors of the space. It’s a breakfast through to dinner and take-out restaurant, a rush kind of place during the day but a warm and relaxed dinner destination at night, with the help of its beautiful light bouquets. Unlike its contemporary design, its food is truly traditional: Saganaki cheese, Tyropita, Souvlaki wraps, Moussaka, Greek salad and Bougatsa make up a fresh, tasty and very filling menu that keeps it all Greek.
