The inspiration for this high-end swimwear that reinterprets traditional motifs into fashion-forward patterns, was found in the colorful and textured Moroccan mosaics, also known as zellige tiles. Mesmerized by the intricate geometric motifs on the glazed terracotta tilework, the designer chose different patterns for the top and bottom of each bikini, which nevertheless work in sync, owing to the unique harmony and craftsmanship of the zellige tiles.
The swimwear patterns were initially created on screen, adjusted to the curves and folds of the fine Italian lycra fabric. The vector motifs were then converted into cross-stich embroidery patterns, and the typically two-dimensional designs were turned into three-dimensional patterns for the chosen fabric. The colors were carefully selected to honor the Moroccan finesse.
