Olga Efterpiou is a womenswear and print designer with a focus on printed textiles. She is inspired by roots of different cultures and traditional crafts, and their projection on to contemporary aesthetics. This collection is based on her home country, Greece, and in particular the summers and naval culture that adorns its history. Looking closely at fishermen, their boats and the markings and texts used to adorn their vessels, Olga Efterpiou designed a series of digital prints for silk and screen prints for linen. The screen-printed fabrics do not repeat by design but arrange in a random composition of stripes made of many layers of thick paint, giving a subtle nod to the white washed houses of the Cycladic Islands. The silhouette has a minimal approach and incorporates the idea of layering derived from the way traditional costumes were worn. These different elements of Greek culture are tied together in the collection with the subtle use of cork and boat-style ropes.
