Finding Vellichor curates exclusive collections of handmade objects, crafted by skilled artisans from across Greece. Rooted in a deep-seated mission, Finding Vellichor seeks to rejuvenate traditional craftsmanship through meaningful collaborations, celebrating techniques and skills that have been lovingly passed down through generations. At the core of the initiative’s ethos is the preservation of Greece’s rich cultural heritage and the unique stories behind each craft. Inspired by the term ‘vellichor’, the brand name captures the wistfulness and nostalgic aroma of handling old objects like books.
The first collection, ‘Marble Dust’, features nine unique pieces named after the muses of ancient Greece. Each piece reflects the creativity and dedication of the artisans, bridging ancient inspiration with modern craftsmanship. Finding Vellichor emphasizes personal connections between buyers and artisans, sharing the stories behind each creation. One of these artisans is Onoufrios Desypris, a marble sculptor from Tinos Island. Living a life filled with marble dust and sea salt, Onoufrios draws inspiration from both the past and present. He believes in the importance of understanding the purpose behind each piece, not just the technique. Upcoming collections from Crete and Naxos will showcase different materials and techniques, continuing the mission to highlight the rich heritage of Greek craftsmanship.
