Allot Basic is a series of lamps that, due to their trapezoid shapes, have no obvious point of balance (or have more than one) and are thus able to change their position and be integrated anywhere. Their design was inspired from examining the dimensions of existing lampshades and their potential contours. The 2D outline of the objects – the most simple and self-explanatory form of describing space – becomes their final form, fending off the hidden curves and the unintended textures that are usually associated with the third dimension. In this way, they can serve as suspended, floor and table lamps, contrary to the common division of usage. They come in four sizes – the two smaller ones being cordless and hence more versatile – and are made using plywood, veneer and paper.
