Manousos Chalkiadakis is a ceramic artist who transforms clay into beautiful vases, boats, fruits, spinning tops and balloons. As part of the process he follows, he uses the “classical technique”, where the object is fired for the first time without glaze at 1000°C and for the second time at 1200°C, after having been enamelled. In this way, by using oxides of different metals (iron, cobalt, copper), he creates the colors that define his work. His studio located in Paidohori, a small village at the foothills of White Mountains (‘Lefka Ori’) in Crete, Manousos Chalkiadakis has participated in many exhibitions and has established himself as a prominent Greek artist.
