Storytelling wonders, around beachy corners of Greece and its islands, Faces of Summer is a series of works created on his summer traveling sketchbook calendars.
Inspired from random, sun kissed, Mediterranean characters and landscapes, the artist chooses to reflect the hustle and bustle of people in their daily lives, by painting “en plein air” (French expression for “in the open air.”). In contrast of the studio rules, he chooses to create dynamic mini paintings of his subjects, directly onto the sketchbooks and “in situ” within the landscape. Working on a palette of minimum colors and trying to capture fractures of moments, loosely he achieves an honest and intense impression of visual narratives by the sea. From large scale and long worked canvases the work transcribes to small scale, fast paintings that are prized for their spontaneity and freshness.
