In the heart of Athens’ historic Thiseio neighborhood, a stone building undergoes a transformation that honors its past while embracing the needs of modern living, by Theta Tris architecture. Built in the 1920s as a warehouse for medical supplies, its prime location charmed the current owners, who saw it as their perfect home away from home during visits to the country. Comprising two residences connected by a charming courtyard, the building’s restoration focuses on maximizing space and character. The ground floor residence (unit A) offers a cozy 35m2, while the two-storey unit (B) awaits its transformation. The design emphasizes openness and functionality. A mezzanine floor maximizes ceiling height, housing a serene sleeping area above the kitchen and bathroom. The living room below exudes warmth, with a wooden staircase leading to cleverly integrated storage. Honoring the building’s heritage, original tiles harmonize with plastered surfaces, while exposed stone walls and a new wooden roof add authenticity. Earthy tones and reflective surfaces create an inviting atmosphere, complemented by white metal accents that define clean lines.
