Architecture studio Aristides Dallas has designed a three-villa haven on Tinos island, putting a new spin on the island’s unique spirit and distinctive character. Pnoēs Tinos, a proud member of Design Hotels, embodies the main elements that define the island, as earth, wind, and water shape the composition and materiality, enriching an ultimate relaxation experience. Taking advantage of the special identity of the site, the cave-like spaces are conceptually carved out of the rock, offering the utmost protection and privacy. The bedrooms appear submerged into the hilly landscape, remaining hidden and unexposed, while framing a unique scenery from the inside out. Using earthy colors and natural textures helps the architecture become part of the landscape, while three airy, white-washed cubic shapes are gently placed above of the earth. Each of these forms protects the most intimate spaces while letting air move through the whole structure. Acting as an endless play of light and shadow, and a reference to the tradition of the medieval settlements on the island, the volumes are representative of the Greek, Cycladic spirit. Water surrounds the villas through the pools while softening the materiality of the forms, offering feelings of serenity and regeneration.
