Nestled within the serene landscape of Ierissos on the Athos peninsula in Chalkidiki, Greece, Maison Elea by TAKA+PARTNERS harmonizes contemporary architecture with its verdant surroundings. Maison Elea sits on a small olive grove, with its master plan articulated as a series of four distinct design units, each offering a unique interaction with the landscape. The design narrative is akin to a journey through a diary, with each “chapter” providing a new experience as visitors move through the space. The journey begins with a welcoming area featuring a fountain and pergola, leading to a tranquil swimming pool that creates a refreshing microclimate. The third section, an olive garden, serves as a natural buffer between communal and private spaces, while the final chapter culminates in the main building, which houses four independent apartments. The architecture reflects a modern take on traditional Macedonian elements—wooden hipped roofs, symmetric openings, and stone-clad exteriors. Inside, the apartments are designed for warmth and intimacy, featuring custom wooden furniture, olive-toned accents, and a mix of natural materials. Lighting is carefully curated to create a calm, inviting atmosphere.
