If the design concept behind the Athens Concert Hall shop (a.k.a. the M shop) could be summarized in two words, those would be ‘Trojan sound’, as it essentially is a counterpoint to the existing music hall, a second melodic line in a simultaneous sound. The idea was to intentionally achieve separation and diversification, using the building as a given background in which the shop would be a standalone object. The relationship between the two was designed to initiate a spatial dialogue, which aims at expanding the current notion of the hall, livening up the areas throughout it and offering a new experience to its visitors. The shop’s cylindic form, it’s raw materials (milled steel, wood and plexiglass), and the overall feeling of a mobile object – similar to a piece of furniture – stand out from the main building and create a new situation inside it.
