Nestled in the historic Thisio neighborhood of Athens, Cinapos reimagines the Greek dining experience by blending tradition with contemporary design. The design challenge lay in restoring the building’s authentic charm while transforming it into a welcoming, modern space. Stones and Walls approached the project with precision, stripping away decades of alterations to reveal the structure’s original features. Cinapos offers a dining experience that flows seamlessly through a series of interconnected spaces, each with its own character. At the center is the atrium, anchored by an ancient olive tree, a timeless symbol of Greek tradition. Surrounding it, the bar—with a mural by Anna Mentogianni—adds a vibrant, artistic touch, while the front hall, featuring a monastery table and open kitchen, creates an inviting atmosphere filled with the aromas of fresh cooking. The back hall, adorned with curated antiques from Athens, brings a sense of history, and the courtyard evokes the calm of the Greek countryside. The atrium ties it all together, framed by stone mantomas and metal furousia, under the open Athens sky.
