Located in central Thessaloniki, on a street close to Acheiropoietos Church, Shed 小屋 is a Japanese coffee spot serving specialty coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. The brainchild of two friends, Moraitis Sotiris with long-term experience in the management of coffee-related projects, and Tsalikidis Georgios, lecturer, and coffee instructor of Thessaloniki Bar Academy, Shed 小屋 is housed in a tiny storeroom of only 9.5 sq.m.
Responding to modern society’s need for decluttering and more space to breathe, architect Chrisoula Fotsitzi (CANstudio) found the design guidelines of the space in the “Japandi” style. Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics are fused with a common goal; to create a minimal space of comfort and simplicity in forms, implicit color contrasts, and a love for natural materials. A combination of the hygge concept of Scandinavian culture with the wabi-sabi philosophy of Japan with strong references to nature leads to the perfectly imperfect coffee corner in downtown Thessaloniki.
In collaboration with the Athenian coffee roasting brand KUDU, the team has selected a series of specialty coffees, either blends or single origin, while offering different kinds of options such as cold brew and flavorsome latte recipes with matcha powder or butterfly pea, freshly baked sweets and classic aperitifs. All products are available to buy in-store.
