Amphora Collection: Zinovia Amparioti designs sculptural bags inspired by Ancient Greek objects

Launched in New York in 2019 by Greek designer Zinovia Amparioti, “Amphora Collection” is based on the idea of bringing together sculptures and accessories to create unique wearable objects. Inspired by Ancient Greek structures and carefully constructed using special techniques, each handbag embodies a unique piece of art, aiming to trigger a cultural and artistic admiration upon encounter. As Zinovia returned to Greece, the source of inspiration for the brand, the production of Amphora Collection moved along and was officially re-launched in Athens in June 2022. The bags are made out of Swiss straw in small laboratories in Greece using special techniques that give them the possibility to take on a 3D form. Amphora Collection is the first step in realizing the designer’s vision through raw material experimentation and how those materials come to life by combining creative elements of sculpture and design in a single process.
