Athens-based Mplusm Architects have renovated an apartment, originally built back in the 50s, converting it into a modern loft. To begin with, the team demolished interior walls and opened up the space into one single area for living, dining, and cooking. Dividing the space into two zones, the bedroom was placed in the front one, as part of the living areas, while baths and the dressing room were designed in a second zone around the entrance of the apartment and towards the backyard. There are three main, free-standing elements in the interior; the bedroom’s wardrobe which works as a divider separating the sleeping area from the bathroom, the marble basin, and the open central kitchen counter. These design elements allow a seamless flow of space, where only curtains create filtered boundaries between the façade and the sleeping area.
