Located on Skopelos island, Deda & Architects designed a 2-storey building featuring two rooms and a lovely backyard. The main design aim was to deliver a cozy holiday experience while merging traditional and modern details.
Using a collection of natural materials and an earthy color palette, Skopelos Suites was designed with respect to the local traditional architecture and in harmony with the natural setting. Both the exterior and the interior walls were painted with natural powder kourasanit in earthy and off-white colors, while the traditional wooden doors and windows were painted in grey-blue. The lighting fixtures feature natural materials and minimalistic metallic forms. The inferiors’ floors are covered in oak wood boards and stone tiles in the same color hues. The furniture is carefully selected to match the island home philosophy, while some of it is custom-made. The focal point of interest is the yard that isn’t so common for this kind of buildings right in the center of the island. The exterior space is designed as an extension of the interior, while the different elevations create interesting new uses such as a big exterior living room, cozy small corners with boho elements, and a shower placed on a concrete platform.
