Acro Suites is a boutique resort consisting of 49 suites and villas in Agia Pelagia, 22 km from Heraklion, Crete. It is built along a rocky peninsula.
The initial idea was to create a luxurious and private sanctuary with unobstructed sea views & absolute privacy. The design is based on the harmonious connection of organic chic modern design with traditional elements in combination with the color palette of the surrounding Cretan landscape.
Shading pergolas, marble patios with custom made outdoor furniture, individual botanical gardens with Cretan herbs in every suite , and classic Cretan architectural elements such as domes and stone arches create a journey into simplicity and discreet luxury. Open spaces and big windows create a sense of continuity and integration between the interior and exterior environment.
Natural materials were used such as local stones, antique Egyptian marble and cretan marble on the custom made furniture in every suite. Rust-colored metals, corten metallic details, soundproof thermal concealed aluminum frames with large windows bring natural light in every room.Wood such as chestnut from Mount Athos, reed wicker, solid oak complete the composition and pressed cement mortar in warm tones covers all the walls inside.
The geothermal installation and Net Metering allows to cover a significant part of the energy while at the same time enables the provision of a network for indirect storage of green energy produced by the photovoltaic system. The building has been constructed with very low energy consumption standards and is included in A + category. A photovoltaic park has been constructed for the production of electricity. The resort also has an eco-friendly, 300 m2 yoga shala made entirely of bamboo and a Bath House which is inspired by the Byzantine traditional concept of baths.
