The apartment is located in a former craft building in downtown Thessaloniki.
The architectural process is guided through the disorderedness of the pre-existing state. In the 1960s, the construction of buildings with rambling columns and multiple axes prevailed in the city, in contrast to that of lofts and open-plan spaces.
This space is turned into a residence and a co-working space. In order to maintain but at the same time to differentiate the intensely industrial sense of space – mostly created from concrete – different geometries, textures and colors were used on floor, ceiling and masonry surfaces.
That was a trial of drawing a layout of uses on the floor as inverted like a “shadow” on surfaces and objects. The unified layout of the interior and exterior (backyard) spaces aims at maximum diffusion of natural light. Brushed stainless steel surfaces, light colored wooden objects, black aluminum lightings, synthetic sittings and reused items shape the space into an open-plan living space.
