“‘Street View’ is a project by Andreas Kamoutsis that deals exclusively with the events taking place out there on the streets. Its routes vary, from lively urban channels in big cities to deserted walks somewhere in the countryside. It includes images with shadows, figures, movement, lines; special moments in time, infinite possibilities to show off the magic created by the instant and – unexpected, in a way – art of Street Photography. A creative process that is indeed difficult to be determined, but manages to transform the insignificant to fine, which can surprise you in every moment, just when the thin visionary line joins issue with the viewer, and reveals infinite unseen aspects of reality…
A prerequisite to the successful completion of the ‘Street View’ project, was practicing and always increasing my ability to photograph through trying – whether it was possible or according to the circumstances – to remain unnoticed by others, hence recording and capturing the human reality around me, as an ‘invisible’ creator. Moving in such a way that, by maintaining a low profile and discreetness, to be able to accurately ‘read’ the variations of light and the beautifully perpetual movement of all those people around me. It is therefore obvious that all my photos are eminently spontaneous and not staged (but nevertheless carefully studied in planning and final production) and stem from a series of shots taken in the ‘everyday’ streets of Copenhagen and Athens, during the last two years…”
