The Black Biomorphic series is a growing collection of white-on-black drawings that have been ported from Konstantinos Papamichalopoulos’ work in comics such as “The Jap” and “The Jap – Deuteronomion”. They are blown-up images of cells that multiply or of links of bio-data being formed and constantly spreading in a void whose sole purpose is to be colonized. By choosing a material such as black plexiglas and white paint, the crisp clarity of a clean and concise line has emerged in these particular works. What had initially started out in Papamichalopoulos’ work in comics, has later on seeped into the Great Golden Room and is now been culminated in this new body of work that is gradually being formed. Influences can be found in the work of Moebius and Frank Miller, in the paintings of Yiannis Spiropoulos and Jean Dubuffet as well as in various forms of japanese art from the Tokugawa period and the ukiyo-e artists, all the way to present-day manga creators such as Katsuhiro Ōtomo, Masamune Shirow and Tsutomu Nihei.
