Floral Stamp Typography is a typeface by Meni Chatzipanagiotou that brings to life botanical flowers and plants, inspired by Flora, the sabine-derived goddess of flowers and spring in Roman Mythology. These facts, along with Flora’s secondary role as Goddess of Youth, gave a strong visual to the designer for crafting the 47 Stamps. Communication was a significant feature of the work, as the aim was to create the letters in a specific way so that they would reflect the meaning of “Floral”. Part of the project is about honoring the wonders of nature and reminding how vital it is to maintain every aspect of our ecosystem alive and healthy. Overall, the idea was to create an Alphabet of hand-carved stamps. All work was done using a speedball lino cutter tool and thick dust free rubbers as a base, and the stamps were based on an Open Type Typeface.
